This short film was made in collaboration with my friends: Remi Noonan, Leigh Culverwell and Rinky Nurul.
Having been given the opportunity to take part in the Clonmel Junction Arts Festival 2022 with the theme. 'Hidden History', my team and I decided to depict the history of one's life. The story of Nico showcases how they grew up with rose colour glasses until they realise, they don't fit the gender mould. We used colour as our main way of showing the gender norms Nico was surrounded by and how they held on to the rose-coloured glasses although it cracks. When Nico takes off the glasses in the end, the world is shown through regular colours depicting that in the end, we are all just people regardless of our gender.

As team lead, I ensured the project was viable, and production ran smooth through weekly meetings, delegation of workload and check-ins with my teammates. I also took on the roles of animator, clean up and colouring. I learnt a lot about time management, leadership and working in a team over the course of a semester. The project was completed on time with little to no hiccups and I'm happy to call Nico as my first animated short film. Creating the film with my friends was a great experience and I'm thankful for their support and belief in me to lead them.
